तस्य संजनयन्हर्षं कुरुवृद्धः पितामहः। सिंहनादं विनद्योच्चैः शङ्खं दध्मौ प्रतापवान्

Transliteration

tasya sañjanayan harṣhaṁ kuru-vṛiddhaḥ pitāmahaḥ siṁha-nādaṁ vinadyochchaiḥ śhaṅkhaṁ dadhmau pratāpavān

Translation

His glorious grandsire, the oldest of the Kauravas, roared like a lion to cheer Duryodhana and blew his conch.

Meaning & Commentary

Bhishma’s act symbolizes the reinforcement of egoic attachment and the dangerous validation of an unrighteous cause. It represents how senior wisdom, when compromised by moral allegiance to duty over righteousness, can inadvertently fuel the fires of conflict.
