Chapter 11: Viśhwarūp Darśhan Yog – Yoga through Beholding the Cosmic Form of God

दंष्ट्राकरालानि च ते मुखानि दृष्ट्वैव कालानलसन्निभानि। दिशो न जाने न लभे च शर्म प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास

Transliteration

danṣhṭrā-karālāni cha te mukhāni dṛiṣhṭvaiva kālānala-sannibhāni diśho na jāne na labhe cha śharma prasīda deveśha jagan-nivāsa

Translation

Seeing Your mouths, terrifying with their tusks and blazing like the fires of cosmic dissolution, I have lost my sense of direction and find no peace. Be merciful, O Lord of all Lords, O Abode of the Universe.

Meaning & Commentary

In this moment of the Vishwaroopam, Arjuna confronts the terrifying reality of Time (Kala) as manifested by Shri Krishna, realizing that the Lord is not only the creator but also the devourer of all that exists. This vision shatters the ego’s attachment to worldly forms, forcing the soul to recognize its total dependence on the Supreme Lord Krishna for refuge. True peace cannot be found in the transient material world, which is constantly undergoing cycles of destruction and rebirth under His divine command. By surrendering to the Lord of the universe, the seeker transcends the fear of mortality and finds eternal stability in His grace. Ultimately, this revelation teaches humanity that the only path to liberation is to perceive the Divine presence behind the overwhelming forces of nature and existence.
