Meaning & Commentary

In this profound verse, Bhagwan Shri Krishna reveals the ultimate object of human knowledge, the Supreme Brahman, who transcends all dualities of existence and non-existence. By guiding Arjuna toward this transcendental reality, Shri Krishna invites the soul to awaken from the illusion of the material world and realize its eternal nature. This knowledge is not merely intellectual; it is a transformative liberation that grants the seeker victory over the cycle of birth and death. As the source of all that exists, Shri Krishna declares that knowing Him is the gateway to eternal life and divine peace. Surrendering to this wisdom allows the devotee to experience the unity of the self with the Supreme Lord, attaining the highest goal of human life.
