Meaning & Commentary

This verse marks the transition from theoretical understanding (Sankhya) to practical application (Yoga). Krishna teaches that while understanding the nature of the eternal self is essential, it must be integrated into our daily actions to achieve true liberation. By practicing Yoga—acting with detachment from the fruits of our deeds—we cease to accumulate the karmic imprints that bind the soul to the cycle of suffering. This shift in consciousness transforms every mundane activity into an offering, allowing one to move through the world with inner freedom. Ultimately, it reveals that spiritual evolution is not a life of withdrawal, but the art of performing one's duty without becoming enslaved by its outcome.
