व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धिरेकेह कुरुनन्दन। बहुशाखा ह्यनन्ताश्च बुद्धयोऽव्यवसायिनाम्
Transliteration
vyavasāyātmikā buddhir ekeha kuru-nandana bahu-śhākhā hyanantāśh cha buddhayo ’vyavasāyinām

Translation
O descendant of the Kurus, in this path, the resolute intellect is single-pointed, whereas the minds of the irresolute are many-branched and endless.
Meaning & Commentary
This verse highlights the fundamental difference between a life driven by purpose and one driven by fragmentation. A resolute person centers their entire existence around a single, higher goal, allowing them to align their actions with clarity and inner peace. In contrast, those without a clear commitment are scattered by countless desires and conflicting thoughts, leading to perpetual anxiety and lack of progress. Spiritual growth requires the cultivation of 'vyavasayatmika buddhi,' which acts as a filter to reject distractions and focus energy solely on the divine purpose. By choosing one path of righteousness, we transcend the mental chaos of worldly attachments and achieve true stability of character.
