Meaning & Commentary

This verse teaches that true spiritual sacrifice is not about external ritual, but about the internal mastery of one’s own life force and sensory perceptions. By 'kindling the fire of knowledge,' the practitioner learns to witness sensory impulses rather than being enslaved by them, effectively neutralizing the outward flow of desire. This internal fire burns away the ego-driven compulsions of the mind and body, turning daily actions into a meditative offering. Ultimately, it suggests that self-control is not a form of suppression, but a profound transformation of energy into a state of steady, conscious awareness.
