Meaning & Commentary

In this verse, Shri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, summarizes the profound metaphysical structure of existence. By distinguishing between the 'field' (the material body), the 'knowledge' (the process of realization), and the 'knowable' (the Supreme Brahman), Bhagwan Shri Krishna empowers the sincere seeker to transcend material illusion. He emphasizes that this wisdom is not merely intellectual; it is a gateway to intimacy with the Divine. When a devotee realizes that everything rests within the Supreme Lord, their consciousness undergoes a transformation that leads directly to His eternal abode. Through this realization, the soul ceases to identify with the fleeting field and finds its ultimate fulfillment in the loving service of Shri Krishna.
