sañjaya uvācha dṛiṣhṭvā tu pāṇḍavānīkaṁ vyūḍhaṁ duryodhanastadā āchāryamupasaṅgamya rājā vachanamabravīt

Translation
Sanjaya said: Having seen the army of the Pandavas drawn up in battle array, King Duryodhana approached his teacher, Drona, and spoke these words.
Meaning & Commentary
Duryodhana's immediate turn toward his guru upon seeing the enemy array reveals fear masked as strategy. It reflects a fundamental human truth — even the most arrogant person instinctively seeks a teacher's reassurance in moments of crisis. This act also shows that no matter how deep the ego, the guru-disciple bond carries an irreplaceable psychological anchor.
